The Shenzhen Qianhai Health Innovation Zone represents a breakthrough in cross-border medical cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Under the "Hong Kong and Macao Medicine and Device Measure," designating institutions in Qianhai can use drugs and medical devices that are already approved in Hong Kong or Macao but not yet registered in mainland China. This "Medical High Ground" focuses on integrating international standards of medical management with mainland China's world-class facilities, epitomized by the Shenzhen Qianhai Taikang International Hospital and its partnership with Cedars-Sinai.

The Shanghai Pudong International Medical Zone (SIMZ) is a state-level medical innovation hub located in the heart of Zhangjiang Science City. It covers 11.88 square kilometers and is recognized as a "Modern Medical City" that integrates high-end clinical services, medical education, and world-class research. The zone benefits from the Shanghai Free Trade Zone policies, allowing for early pilot programs in foreign-owned healthcare and advanced medical device imports. Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone

博鳌乐城国际医疗旅游先行区

Established in 2013 by State Council approval, Boao Lecheng is China's only national-level medical special zone. Located in Qionghai, Hainan Province, the zone spans over 20 km² and hosts 30+ medical institutions. Thanks to special regulatory privileges, patients can access 485+ FDA, EMA, and PMDA-approved medicines and devices before they are available elsewhere in mainland China. The zone has welcomed over 865,000 medical tourists in 2025 alone, representing 109% year-over-year growth.

Beijing Zhongguancun Life Sciences Park, known as "Life Valley," is China's premier strategic base for the development of life science and biotechnology.
